Just as a reminder, this series is named Starting Your Own Blog. I have already introduced in it part one and gave an insight of what we shall be talking about. On this post, we have three very important questions about blogging that I think we really should consider.
- Do you like blogging? - LOVE
- Are you willing to start blogging? - WILLINGNESS
- Will you be able to keep up? - ABILITY
Do you like blogging?
I am advising you to ask yourself this question before you even start a blog, though I never got the chance to do so. Probably because I started blogging before I even understood what I was up to. This question is essential even for people who have already started blogging. Some people feel they are not being serious wit their blog(s) and sometimes tend to ask themselves whether they really like blogging.
Love is not something one can easily fake. If you like blogging, you need just a very short time to figure it out. If you like blogging and you are ready to blog, bingo, you are on your way to a “mad competition” with the professionals. Don’t you dare think for even one moment that you will never be a professional. Professionalism is the birth right of every human. All we need to do is just work for it.
If you love blogging, I bet you will be willing to start a blog, and when you do, that love for blogging will be the main engine pushing you through. So, my friend, love is the backbone of the entire show.
Are you willing to start blogging?
As we discussed in the previous paragraph, it is only the love of blogging that can be your best motive of being willing to start a blog. Besides the love of blogging, there must be about a quarter dozen reasons why you will like to start and maintain a blog. We are going to discuss about that later in another post.
If you decide that you want to start a blog, that’s OK but you must understand that it is very easy and very difficult. Very easy in the sense that you are “independent”. You do things how you want and when you want to. You don’t receive any orders from anybody. It is your blog, and you are the ultimate master. It is also very difficult in the sense that there is a lot of competition out there. You can’t give competition a blind eye. If you don’t dedicate yourself to your blog and work out good content, you will be nowhere to be found in the search engines. If you don’t market your blog, believe me there will be days when you don’t have even a single visitor. Not even one. It is a very rough road, but I always encourage anybody I meet on my way to get in and ride.
Will you be able to keep up?
Some people usually preach that when climbing up a hill, you should never look at the peak or else you will feel defeated and give up. Yet, others say you should always look right ahead of you and set goals so that you can work towards them and be able to achieve them. I prefer the second line of thought. If you want to start a blog, I advise you look ahead of you and see how much work, time and dedication blogging will take. After such “discoveries”, you will be able to make present and future allocations for them. Also, the amount of time, work and dedication you will need for your blog will depend on what type of blogger you will really want to be – relaxed, occasional, casual..etc. we shall discuss this in full in another post. I rally should take things easy and slow for everyone to understand, right?
This series has just begun. Stick around…
