Thought you might like to know Entrecard does pay on ebay. I have seen auctions close in the hundreds

The internet is such a complex place and you have simplified it very much. I believe there is room on it for many types of people with many different goals.

The founders of EntreCard have a vision of what they believe to be good blogging practices. Rather than try to preach it through blogs and forums, they created the social network of EntreCard and have instituted in a step-by-step manner things that have firstly gotten bloggers visiting other blogs (dropping) and now they are shifting the focus to interaction with those other blogs (commenting). They have encouraged us to write good content so that we are worthy of receiving the credits the EntreCard economy is based on and they have created ways for us to advertise our blogs on other blogs, using those credits which keeps our hard earned cash going for the necessities in life.

It’s the cheaters, the lazy and the greedy who twist these goals. EntreCard founders take steps to minimize the effects of these people, but it’s part of the human make up that we have these to deal with.

EntreCard is not all good, but it’s far from being bad. The goals the founders seek are worthy ones in my opinion and this last step, while generating some chaos at it’s outset, will eventually settle down to something that makes sense and works for the majority of those who participate.

Thank you, my friend for visiting my humble blog. Good luck to you with your endeavors.

You make very good points. Entrecard still has some basic flaws that I’m not sure Graham will be able to overcome in the short run. Whenever you create a system, people will try to game it. Getting your max points every day gets you noticed, so people will still make that effort without really adding value to the system (they’re dropping and not blogging).

If graham were to open the platform to non-blog owners, then I think you’d see a huge influx of readers and comments. The key to that is making a proper market for the credits so readers can use them as a currency. As long as it stays just blogs, there will be limited growth and limited value.

Great points on EntreCard and SezWho partnership.

Personally I agree with Margaret. Systems like these are great if not abused. Unfortunately there are some that will always try to use the easy way out.

The 300 points per drop per day may be too excessie and overinflates the economy. A typical person may visit only, maybe 10 to 20 blogs a day.

It only overinflates the economy and encourages card dropping instead of genuine blog visits.

This is the most in-depth post on the entrecard/sezwho partnership that I’ve read so far. It’s also the only one that was even a little negative.

I happen to like the idea because it does reward relevant good comments. I find that many entrecard members just drop without ever looking at content.

I always check out the content, but often can’t comment either because I don’t know enough about the topic or the blog hasn’t changed in weeks.

I can’t believe that anyone has a a “blog” and posts less than weekly.

@ REBECCA
I was very surprised when i checked the link out, but I don’t think the money is really worth it. Instead of selling thousands of credits for just a few dollars, I will rather use it to advertise on a high value blog like John Chow’s

@MARGARET
I agree with you about the vision of the founders of Entrecard. Without the lazy cheating bloggers, Entrecard will not only be a good, but a very wonderful service. I will put on a dark face against them if and only if they are not doing anything to fight those devaluing the system. I am sure they are trying their best. I was very happy when they announced that they will ban members with quick drop pages. Great! I pray for more strict decisions like that.

@ BALD EAGLE
Wow. I am amazed by your ideas. I never thought of the possibility of Entrecard opening the system up for non bloggers and non blog owners. That will make it almost limitless. As for those devaluing the system, i pray we outrun them someday.

@ AVATAR
The 300 limit is really too much, but bloggers with good ethics can make it and still keep their ties to blogs and fellow bloggers. With a fast connection, one can drop 300 in an hour. The question is, after dropping will you come back to start reading and commenting?

@ LINDA
Wow, thanks for the appreciation. I was just expressing my sincere thoughts on this post, so I decided to be as objective as possible. Rewarding good comments is good as long as we keep a clean meaning of the term “reward”.
