good post! you have hit exactly how i feel. most bloggers have forgotten the true spirit of blogging…. gaining friends.

to add to your list, this is what i really don’t like

“hi, can we exlinks? add me first then buzz me so i can add you too”

although i really didn’t hear the tone of the voice, it sounds rude to me. if you are to ask for a link, you should be the one linking first. that’s the proper way, right?

Hi Liza,

I think I can understand exactly what you are saying. Asking for a link is not bad, but as you rightly put it, “THE TONE IN THE VOICE”. Some people think because their blog has a better rank than yours, they should be rude in asking for a link because you are the one benefitting more. Some will still be rude even if they have a lower page rank and traffic than you have.

You have added one thing I forgt to point out. most bloggers have forgotten the true spirit of blogging…. gaining friends.

Thanks for that.

A very good post indeed! I wonder how many bloggers pay attention to these.

I also agree to Liza….what she has said in the first two lines of her comment. We, the bloggers, are really forgetting to gain friends because all we want is reciprocity.

If one does not reciprocate, we seem to forget that site/blog. Why??? a lame excuse will be ‘we are busy’ but in reality, we are selfish. We forget that ‘give and take policy’ does not work everywhere.

There is a blog where I keep dropping EC. My site is not at all of his interest but his blog is of somewhat my interest. So, I drop EC and whatever he writes, I read (I may not comment). Now, if I think that he does not reciprocate…so I will not drop EC and read his articles and forget visiting his site …..IT IS SIMPLY NOT DONE!

Reciprocity is not always the forte.

exactly! very well said. it’s not too over the top, but mainly stresses a good point. just my two cents. =)

This is such an accurate and well written post–I appreciate your candor. Your voice speaks for hundreds of not just bloggers, but people in general. We all want our emails and phone calls returned; it’s just human nature. And common courtesy. It takes effort, but is well worth the return.

Nice blog, by the way.

peace,

Great life application as well. We should serve people for the good of the serving, not to expect anything in return.

Peace.
