Are they of any importance to us?
When I mention “Personal Diaries” here, I don’t mean the traditional paper diary in your trunk. I mean the one on the web, the blog.
A blog that is classified as a personal diary is one in which the author gives an update of his/her life and living. He/she shares experiences and circumstances with others. A personal diary, in the real sense of it, should be personal. In blogger, for example, there is an option where you can exclude your personal diary from search engines and directories, and also control the people you want to view it. That is what actually makes the diary personal.
Nowadays, many bloggers have realized that keeping a personal diary is not just for self-accountability. People want to reach out to others and share their experiences with them. This is the reason why you will see those diaries open on the web for everyone to view and comment on.
A typical personal diary will consist of:
–>Commentaries
–>Observations
–>Views
–>Opinions
–>Experiences
–>Successes
–>Failures
–>Advice (giving and asking for)
–>Plans and life goals…etc
An open personal diary is a great resource for people who want to learn from the successes and failures of others. If the blogger keeping such a diary is an honest and passionate one and does not play around with what he/she says, then he/she can be of positive impact to readers.
At times, I get marveled by how much respect I have for bloggers who run personal diaries. I don’t know if it just has something to do with me, and the way I usually look at people or they are really worth a loud cry to wake up a sleeping baby. A personal diary written and updated by a sincere and passionate individual can positively influence someone’s life better than any book you can imagine. We have quite a lot to learn from them.
It takes lots of self-confidence, courage and boldness to run a personal diary. Not everyone has that (guts). Just imagine posting private information in public. Some bloggers running personal diaries are so outspoken that they hide “nothing” from readers. They take any experiences or circumstances, whether positive or negative, and analyze it from root to tip.
An update of someone’s life usually makes us want to sit back, relax and think about ourselves for a while. Imagine someone telling the entire planet who he/she is in love with. Doesn’t that mean something to you? Won’t you want to think it over whether you will say the same about your own love? Won’t you like to learn from the mistakes someone did so that you can avoid them in future?
Giving your personal diary more weight
The main reason why some people shy away from personal diaries is that most of them are simply reports. The blogger simply says what he/she did, is doing and will be doing. If you are running a personal diary and you really want your visitors to get engaged. You really have to interact with them on a very intimate scale.
In your personal diary, don’t just tell them you passed the job interview and you now have a new job and you are very happy. No! You can further the discussion and make it wider and more impacting by considering the following:
–>Talk top them about the nature of your previous job and how it affected your living
–>Tell them why you had to consider looking for another job
–>Tell them where you learned about the job offer
–>Tell them the type of questions you were asked and the answers you provided….etc
This way, your personal diary will be of more help to those who read it.
Rambling on Your Diary
I really don’t know which is which but I hope you will help me out here. They are either
–>Personal diaries in which the blogger rambles about another thing OR
–>Ramblings in which the blogger includes his/her personal diary
All I know is that somewhere, many bloggers are blending the two of them and to me, that looks just great! I can’t really explain how much I love blogs that mix up personal diaries and ramblings. Lainy’s Blogs (Lainy’s Musings and Our Journey to forever) are very good examples of such. On her blogs, she talks about her work, her prince, her country, and also gives us an update of the things she does. She puts them down in a plain manner, free of sugarcoating and one can really learn quite a lot from them.
Rambling on your personal diary gives you the ability to give general situations and happenings a personal point of view. Learning in such a case is mutual. You throw some stuff out to your readers, they tell you want they think, and you in turn evaluate their opinions and see if any works for you.
The essence of this post is just a short piece of advice

WOWW! WHat more can I say, Uncle Che? I can’t believe my blogs have been mentioned again here and you have always been talking good things about me. I am such a sucker for compliments in a manner wherein I am always worse at receiving them. But this one is a lot different. You can hardly stop me from gushing. You have no idea how flattered, gratified, thrilled and humbled I am.
I’m glad you’re my friend and since Day 1, you were able to raise my confidence beyond limit. Thanks for being a true inspiration!

Hi UncleChe,
Yes, personal diaries are great stuff and many people are attracted to them especially if the writer is sincere and honest about his/her experiences in life. There are diverse reasons why people blog and one of them is to express themselves to the world and divulge some personal anecdotes in their lives. To them this is therapeutic. I am getting curious about Lainy. Might as well visit her blog and find out more about her. Thanks for the informational post. God bless you and your loved ones always.

@ LAINY
Come on sis. You know I will always like to give credits where it doesn’t belong BUT I hardly do that.
No flattery or anything of that sort. Just plain truth.
@ MEL AVILA
Yeah. I agree self expression is one of the reasons people blog, and possible the greatest.

Uncle Che!
Thanks for the visit! Lainy would always talk highly of you and I am so thrilled to have you call me sis too.
I agree about the benefit of having this personal diary. This is what the hubby and I do. Life for us is a celebration and we blog to share how the Lord has brought us to the place where we’re at and with the hope that one way or another we can minister to people who read our entries. Aside from the obvious that it also helps us to earn some money through paid postings.
God bless you Uncle Che! I am glad to have stumbled upon your blog via the princess of Scotty.

Before, I used to look at God and frown “Lord, why didn’t you give me an elder sister? I always feel like the love of an elder sister is next to that of a mum. Well, for a while, i stopped wondering. All my female friends are my elder sisters.
Lainy talk highly of you to me too. She made me understand how consecrated your family is.
Greet your second half for me.
