When was my last post?
Oh, I am too shy to answer that question.
I can’t just imagine the type of things that has really been holding me down for so long.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been having too many problems with my internet connection. I kept persisting, hoping that things will get better with my ISP, but finally, I thought I was just waiting in vain. I had to make a move, and switch to a different provider.
MTN (Mobile Communication Network), is probably the best mobile network in Cameroon. Recently, Internet connectivity which was made available only through mobile is now available for use in homes by those who can afford for it.
I contacted them and made a deal for a 512MB connection and I bet that will certainly do me some good. Yeah, it is. Though everything didn’t just turn from mud to diamond as I thought, but this new connection is getting better and better everyday. I hope they will keep it as good as this for long.
It took them about 10 days to install their devices and get my internet connection ready. Ten good days? Come on! It nearly killed me. I couldn’t imagine myself paying to use public computers. Paying wasn’t even the problem. When I lost my connection that is when I realized that it was better than the ones in the cyber cafes around me. For ten good days, I couldn’t even access the post page of my Wordpress blog.
Thank God Lainy was there to help. She is a friend indeed. Almost every afternoon and night, I went online to catch her and have a small chat with her. Once, she introduced me to Ivy, and the three of us had a conference chat with Yahoo Messenger. Added to keeping me company when I couldn’t blog, Lainy also solved my problem of paying for hosting. I could not pay for hosting because of credit card complications. I was using free hosting and my blog’s loading time was some sort of hell to my visitors and readers. Lainy purchased pro hosting for me at namecheap.com (where I register my domains) and also helped me to register for Pen 2 Net, a project I will complete pretty soon.
After transferring from my free host (with so many restrictions) to NameCheap Hosting, I can now boast of having a more control over my blog. All of the plugins that formerly were not working (except Commentluv) are now working just fine. I no longer get various scary error messages when I try to do stuff.
I think I am now in full form and ready to proceed as planned.
I will like to thank all of you who have been keeping this blog alive. Though I was “absent” for a long time, I still realized a constant rise in traffic.
Tomorrow, I will be posting the very first post of series 3 “Basic Things to Know About Domain Names”
As I said earlier, these series are for Noobs and most of you may find it boring
